Day 3: Pangolin Conservation Rally at Bode Wildlife Market
The bustling Bode Market in Ibadan became the focal point for PCGN’s awareness campaign on 16th February 2024. Engaging directly with market traders and their buyers, the rally highlighted the importance of protecting pangolins. The reality of pangolin poaching and trafficking was underscored by the discovery of several dead pangolins in the market as well as stories of how these animals were bought by the traders. PCGN alongside over 30 student volunteers from the University of Ibadan did not leave the market until they were certain that their message on the conservation of Pangolins and wildlife had been heard loud and clear.
